What is elgg?
elgg is a social network framework. It provides the functionality necessary for you to run your own social networking site, whether publicly (such as Facebook) or internally on a networked intranet (such as Microsoft SharePoint).
elgg focuses on the learner and interactions, it is about providing an informal space that allows learners to exercise their own thinking, reflections, establish their own connections and empower them to collect a body of evidence. Allows organizations to host their own systems tailored to their specific needs, while still maintaining site-to-site connectivity
